MEMS fifth grade students will be celebrating exhibition Friday, May 1st! We would love for family and community members to celebrate with us between the hours of 8:45-10:20 and 11:45-12:55. The students will be sharing information on how they have learned to share the planet and its limited resources. Students will be reading stories they have created, acting out plays, sharing science experiments and explaining art pieces that revolve around our global issue- water. Come visit to see the information they have to share and how you can help us make the world a better and more peaceful place.

Single Subject Acceleration Information Sessions
Single Subject Acceleration (SSA) is the practice of assigning a student to a higher-grade level than is typical, given the student's age, for the purpose of providing access to appropriately challenging learning opportunities. SSA is an accelerative practice that allows students to show mastery of the content of a course without having taken the course. For example, a parent could nominate his/her child to skip a grade level of content in either Language Arts OR Mathematics. Testing for SSA will take place during the 2015-2016 school year. Parents interested in SSA for their student are encouraged to attend one of the information sessions on the informational flyer below to learn more about the process. Nominations as well as additional questions should be sent to Christy Bigelow (firstname.lastname@example.org, 919-850-8700).

WCPSS School Progress Report
In response to a new state approach that assigns a single grade to an entire school, the Wake County Public School System has released detailed progress reports for all of its schools.
"We have never believed assigning a single grade to a school makes much sense," said Superintendent Jim Merrill. "Our parents understand there is much more to a school than one grade can reflect."
Millbrook Elementary Magnet School rates above average in academic growth compared to North Carolina and Wake County Public Schools. Check out our school progress report here.
Kindergarten registration began January 15th.
Visit the WCPSS kindergarten information site for more information on how to register!
