Lunch Bunch

Lunch Bunch is great fun! Five or six students per week sign up or are chosen (depending on the grade) to bring their lunch to the counselor's room to eat, play, and talk. Not only is this a time for students to get to know the counselor, it is also a time to work on social skills such as polite conversation, taking turns, handling disappointment (if a game is lost or the group choses to play something that is not a student's first choice) and table manners. Listen around the halls and you'll hear many students talking about Lunch Bunch!
A couple of quotes from my lunch bunch today if you want to include that. I can get quotes from other kids too if you want.
"Lunch Bunch is great. I like it because Mrs. Atkins and Mrs. Wells make it so much fun!" Yanci, Grade 3
"Lunch Bunch is fun because you get to play with toys"
Karen, Grade 3
"Lunch Bunch is fun because Mrs. Atkins and Mrs. Wells are too funny and too pretty."
Mirna, Grade 3
Will my child be embarrassed to leave the classroom with the school counselor?
No! The school counselors at Millbrook Elementary believe in being highly visible throughout the school. Because of this, the counselors are seen as a normal part of the school atmosphere. Most of the time, kids beg to be picked up by the counselor.
